Hey guys and gals,

I'm a little lost on this one...

I've been using a retail Stamkos/Forsberg/Burrows etc. curve for a number of years now.  It's a lie 4, and it has always come up to just under my chin on skates.
I recently got my hands on a Warrior with a Kreps curve, and it's apparently a 5-5.5 lie.  The stick is cut the exact same length, and when I stepped on the ice last night it came right up under my chin.

When I started skating and shooting with it, it felt like it was at least 2 inches shorter than my Warrior Diablo with the Burrows curve.  It wasn't actually shorter, so the only thing that I can think of is the difference in lie.

Is it normal for it to feel like that?  It felt very awkward for most of the skate.

I'm going to try adding a 1" plug on the end to see if it helps, but just wondered if anyone else had experience with stuff like this.

Any info is always appreciated!

If anything, you may want to try it an inch shorter. Higher lies mean there is less of an angle between the shaft and blade. Usually shorter sticks have higher lies because you can stick handle closer to the body. Of course, everyone is different and rockers also play a big effect.

How was the wear on the tape after the skate? That might be a good place to start.

Really?  I don't think I could use the thing if I were to make it shorter.

There was no wear/even wear on the tape.  Usually I have some wear on the heel.

The wear on the heel probly means your other stick wasnt the right lie, and this one is. Getting used to it is probably the best thing whether or not you put the plug in

Looking for retro Ducks set!

Good to know.  I'm definitely going to give this stick more time to get used to.  Gonna try a 1" plug to start.

isnt the heel of a kreps a 5? Ive always been under the assumption that different companies lie numbers are all messed up. bauer6=easton 5.5, anyways shouldnt the flat bottom of the heel of a kreps be pretty equivalent to the lie of a 4 warrior? ofcourse the rocker is going to change that up.  If they arent equal then  if anything i would think the kreps would be a higher lie than the warrior which shouldnt translate into even wear if he was getting heel wear from a supposed lower lie.  It could be the rocker of the burrows was compensating for the lie and that the flat bottom of the kreps near the heel is catching you by suprise

If you wear on the heel, do you want to cut or put a plug in?

Cut. Will put the blade flat for wear in the middle. Becarefull if u have a curve like a drury tho you want that flatbottom near the heel to be flat on the ice

Thought so. Then a lie 5 should be shorter than a lie 6?

Other way around.

Here are the two sticks.  Same exact length.

Here's the lie difference.  Both sticks are resting on the middle of the blade.

It's really crazy how the DT1 feels so much shorter when it isn't.

Two different curves with different lies, they might sit evenly like this, but they are probably not the same length from tip to heel.

Good Idea; Whistling while you work.

Bad Idea; Whistling while you eat.

What lies are the sticks?

The Diablo is a retail Burrows, which I believe is a 4.

The Covert is pro-stock, so I'm not 100% certain.  It's gotta be a 5 or 5.5.

Well, I added 1.75" to the end of the Covert last night right before a skate.

Definitely helped.  My first shot I crossed the blue line and burried a slapper over the goalie's shoulder.  Lots of "oohs" & "ahs".  :headbang:

I'm probably going to reduce it down about half an inch or less because my stickhandling suffered a bit.  Nothing horrible, but I'm thinking a net addition of 1.25 inches will be a perfect balance on this stick.
