What does this mean?
if you what to know why I think it's interesting I'm pretty sure that the rest of my post explained that. if I were them I'd try to model the company after #1 not someone way down the line.

Companies have to keep releasing new stuff every year to be viable in this business. The majority of consumers will want the latest and greatest. Making the same product forever will get you into trouble. Compare Graf from 10-15 years ago to the present day. They did little to innovate and the only major addition to their product lineup was a failed attempt at a composite boot; an area where they have little expertise in and is already dominated by Bauer.

Having been involved on a first hand basis with product development and sales for a few hockey companies, my professional opinion says that you are dead wrong on this. Sorry.
Maybe the members of this BB, and others like it, where people are gear whores, however, the majority of players do not subscribe to your theory. If so, the growth in hockey sales worldwide would be unreal instead of the low single digits.

For what it's worth, Warrior (and New Balance I guess) are also branching out into new sporting markets. I'm not tuned into all the secret behind the scenes stuff but that might be a part of why things are changing with the company? Since they've partnered with Liverpool FC their market has gone global. People all over Asia in Thailand and Indonesia and other parts of the South Pacific wear tons of Liverpool gear with the Warrior logo splashed all over it. They're also expanding in Europe like crazy.
Thats just what I thought of just off the top of my head of why Warrior might be changing their game plan on some things. Like I said, Im hardly in the know about things like that.

While I do not have the same level of experience as you in the industry, I am going off my time from having worked in hockey retail. I have seen parents make their final decisions based on price alone and this usually includes buying older stock. If they can save a couple bucks on a piece of gear their kid is only going to fit for 6 months to 1 year then they'll save wherever they can.
Going back to my original post I don't think I chose the best wording. I was gearing more towards the technologies/materials used and not current vs old models, hence my example with Graf and the way they are still making their boots compared to the competition. My LHS is one of 3 shops in the area that still have Graf skates in their inventory but they're not bringing in any more skates since they've been sitting on the same dead stock for several years.
