Finally want to cave and get pro stock pants from hockeymonkey i know how its cheap to have them shipped to US and go pick them up using CBI or UPS in Niagara Falls, NY but it looks like with the 20 percent sale having them shipped directly to me in canada is only 30ish dollars more (after paying absurd 53 shipping). Factor in driving and gas money it seems worth it to have them shipped to me in CANADA- has any one shipped from hockey monkey using USPS priority international? should i expect to be dinged for duty?

any thoughts would be helpful . looks like total would be 157 US shipped to my door

I bought pants as well and I never had to pay duties. I think it's covered in the shipping costs? Might be mistaken.

North American Free Trade Agreement. Things made within the continent will not get dutied in most cases. Maybe really expensive items is a different case. I ordered a pair but sent them to Pt Roberts near my place but when I went through customs I declared and told them they're made in Canada. Dont see why they would tax you on something thats made in our own country. I have ordered other items made in the US or Canada and havent gotten dinged.

I'd love to have them shipped to the states using UPS but for just one item it won't make financial sense

No duty for sure. If they are made in Canada. And even in the past any sticks I have received(made in china Bauers) they have never hit me with the duty.

Depending on what province you live in. You could pay HST PST etc. Flip a coin to if you get dinged. Just as a personal reference. Last week I got 6 packages. 2 had the HST payable at the door. Also, the ones that get charged the HST also have a $9.95 handling fee from CBSA. The other 4 made it no taxes.

I paid about $21 in duties for my pants from hockey monkey. On top of the $53 shipping fee

Don't mistake duty for tax. They are not the same,

If you get charged DUTY. It would have to be an item made in china, thailand etc. And it would be 6% of the total of the item. Then you pay your provinces tax rate on the total of the item as well.

Things made in Canada, US or Mexico fall under nafta. You will not pay duty. But you could still pay your provinces tax rate on the total.

Shipping fees from HM do not include any other fees. FYI

A few members on here had to pay when we all ordered pants a few months back.
If they are offering a discount , just have then shipped to you in Canada

I factored in driving to the border which is about hour-hour and half. Probably another 30 minute wait at the border there and back plus gas money. It would make sense if I was getting more stuff but one pair of pants I may bite the bullet.

Fees on 1 pair of pants will cost less than that drive and hassle at the border ...
Plus your saving 20% with their sale , so you save.

Just make sure and/or request they use USPS
They charge the lowest brokerage fees.
