[Dupes]

I have owned several pairs of pro stock skates, and all except 1 have fitted me perfectly.
Do you guys own any pro stock skates?

Yeah I own a pair of pro stock x60s. Bit they were made for me through my college team at the time

Just got a pair of brand spanking new CCM U+ CLs with Tuuk LS2s from the Sens locker room. Always been a Bauer guy, but I figure what the hell, I will try something different. Havent had a chance to put blade to ice yet, however I am quite surprised at the fit. They seem like they were made for me! Just lucky I guess. Wont know for sure til I am jumping on them, but,first impression

I picked up a pair of Bauer One95s from the Springfield Falcons, they were Nick Tarnasky's, formerly of TBL and Panthers. The have have Tuuk Custom Plus holders with full copper rivets. These things were like brand new and fit perfect.

I had 4 pairs of Stoll X60s, a pair of Kopitar X60s, and a pair of 9Ks.
Sold everything and gave the 9Ks to my brother.

I had some Nike pro stocks from the Coyotes, loved them perfect fit, size 11.

now i use custom pro white S15s and they are by far the best skates i have ever used, granted i would like to go to graf eventually but these are fantastic, they're just starting to break down from heavy use which sucks

I had a pair of Hamrlik 9K's and they fit me well.
Picked up some 11k's at the Habs sale, I hate white skates but Ill still give them a try.

Whats up with some pro stock skates with this type of toe cap?


Is there a real reason to it or is it just an aesthetic thing?

Also, is size 8.75 available in retail?

It is a player option, old school option.

No 1/4 sizes are not available at retail and neither is this model of skate. The vcut nexus is a pro option available only skate.

I believe nylon toecaps also have a little bit less space in them as well, compared to the 'modern' all-plastic toecap (if we're talking about Bauer at least.)

I imagine that it's simply the case where a pro is used to something and would prefer to stick with it.

Question on PS skates...I understand that at the NHL level, guys get the full treatment...lasts made of their feet, etc.  It's why I've been reluctant to try skates from NHL'rs simply due to their skates truly being made for their feet. 

 

Does anyone know if that applies to AHL level players, too?  Or would AHL'rs be more like us ordering custom.  You get options for stiffness, liners, tongues, stitching, eyelets, etc, etc...but no last made.  

 

I'm eyeing a pair of X90's in my size, I can see the usual suspects (liner, eyelets, stitching, tongue), but everything else looks pretty standard and similar to retail. 

 

Any help is appreciated.

I believe that players get options as to how they want their skates made; either fully custom in a last or a standard 'retail-fitting' boot. Wether this applies to all levels of play (leagues NHL, AHL, etc) I am not entirely sure. 

 

I do know that players (let's say at the NHL level) can opt for a 'retail-fit' with other custom options----> so basically he can choose no foot last but can opt to have standard, eyelets, different tongue, so on and so forth.

Players don't get their own last made unless they endorse a product or have foot issues. Auston Matthews was in a nexus lasted as a vapor last year.

Peter Forsberg would be a good example of someone with foot issues getting then made.

Reps are taking plaster with them into arenas to make a last and only certain players like Forsberg are taking trips to the factory to get their boot figured out.

Custom skates have the exact same options as "pro Stock" which only means that a team bought them.

Fitters use a series of measurements and their own experience to get the right fit.
