I used to be a sneakerhead and that was a very common practice.  Gets the listing to the top when you sort by price and makes you think you're getting a great deal.  I'd bet that there have been cases where people just skimmed over shipping and clicked through the payment.  I wonder what eBay does when you file a claim that shows it only cost ~$30 to ship them.

Nope. It's based on the full total of item price plus shipping cost

They'll also pull the plug on your account if they catch you doing that or someone reports your listing.

a couple of years ago, pre-PSH they sold a handful of "pro stock" Warrior gloves. I seem to remember Kovy (Devils Luxe?), Chara, some Lightning player and a couple of others. back then their prices were reasonable. now they've raised them so high you'd think they were a pharmaceutical company.
