I think Louie was hinting at it, but there's definitely a completely different market for used sporting apparel that eBay is trying to avoid. There was a while where used, "sweaty college varsity athlete" socks were selling for like $50-75 a pair. Don't Google it on your lunch break.
Too bad I'm not a hunk jock, otherwise I'd be rich from sock sales.

I remember learning a while ago from a member that there’s sickos out there that enjoying buying sweaty men’s undergarments to get their rocks off. It’s pretty disgusting, they would bid some pretty high prices on these jocks and baselayers too.
