Any goalie have experience with them? I know they are somewhat adjustable in size. I know they are not NHL-spec, but Stuarto Pidasso is NOT on any NHL roster the last time I checked. Most beer leagues I know about don't have sizing guidelines on goal pads.

I have always wanted to play goal, but am somewhat apprehensive.

They are rather old technology and probably pretty heavy.

Unless you are getting them free, there are much better options out there.

Not free, but cheap.

I am trying out goal for the first time and don't want to put out tonnes of $$$

I would invest in a good helmet, however.

What exactly is cheap? You may be better borrowing a buddys pads if he wears your size to try the position and purchase something half decent. There are plenty of pads that are very affordable just an older model. Never go cheap on a mask, the best mask at a cheap price point is a Fusion 961 which is made out of the same mold as the Itech/Bauer 961

Not retail. Sticker shock has pretty well kept me from playing goalie. Even used, it is kinda expensive.

I wanted to use an older model leg pads, etc. I am certainly going to spend real money on my head. I have done my homework on helmets.
