Those are cool jerseys !! And it's really interesting to see what they did as modifications in order to gain the extra edge...

Thanks for sharing !!

I don't generally collect goons, but I did get this one.   He had 124 PIMS in 60 games this season.  And a goal.

I played with him recently.  Nice guy.  Goofball, and even in men's league, it was possible to see the switch start going off when guys tried hacking him.

Thanks - I'll post some of the modifications in the collection at some point soon. Double fight straps, skate lace fight straps, triple fight straps, shortened sleeves, widened sleeves, tightened sleeves, etc. as well as the damage from fighting - have a bunch with badly torn necks, blood stains galore, etc. This line of work is certainly hard on jerseys!

Big Cairns fan - good to hear he's still playing post career. Have one of his gamers myself (05-06 Panthers road) along with one of his game used sticks from his time with the Isles -

Thanks!

Have over 180 gamers in the collection, encompassing about 140 different fighters/goons, but that's my only Probie gamer - his gamers start at about $2,500 if you can even find one up for sale - his Wings gamers are $3,500+.............

I do have a game used & auto'd stick as well as a pair of game used & photo-matched elbow pads of his, all from his Hawks days. I also have an authentic Red Wings road jersey of his from 1992-93 that was the first jersey I ever bought - he signed it for me when the Wings played the Caps that year and hence the start of the jersey collecting and goon collecting 'bug'.

Very cool that probie started it all for ya! If only he could have played all games and not only the US games... what an amazing player!

I played for Todd Ewen here in St. Louis for a year. One of my favorite coaches and such a creative guy. Seeing his jersey is really cool.

NHL teams could care less that you want a pair of brand new Warrior Luxe/Franchise custom thumb loop super custom digi toilet paper soft palm with double added reinforced custom Warrior logo backhand padding gloves or a 17 flex double kreps curve upside down toe hook stick from your fav player/team. -Bakes

Very nice - was a big fan of his back in the day - here are some better pics of it -

Holy $hit... Hordichuk with 3 fight straps. That's bananas. Never thought about mod'ing jerseys for fighting. Makes perfect sense though.

I didn't know it had three straps till it arrived - just ordered a Canucks Hordichuk from Meigray and was surprised when it arrived.

This was one of the more unique mods I'd forgotten about when I posted some of them yesterday - currently have 42 jerseys with modifications of some sort and 27 with fight damage or blood (a few have both), so the above is just a small sampling but does contain some of the better mods -

97-98 David Karpa Ducks road - has 2" wide material insert added to make the sleeve wider, but only to the right sleeve (his punching arm). Other sleeve is normal -

This is a really cool thread. I had no idea guys made those modifiactions, but like mincy said it makes sense. Interesting to have straps that tie from the the top too.

WOW  Awesome collection.  I'd like to know which players customize their current jerseys now. Definitely not as much as the 80s and 90s. I knew about Hordichuk after almost purchasing one, then my buddy bought an Islanders Tim Jackman that has a fight strap sewn underneath the logo.   I saw Vukota's 93 Isles jersey up close, and he used the skate lace and a safety pin to hold it down.

I have a Domi Jets jersey that has the shortened cuffs too with tape around the fight strap. Not sure what the tape did. I guess for reinforcement.

I could look at this stuff for hours.

The modified fights straps are awesome! Has me thinking tho... I wonder if any fighters have also modified their pants in any way to strengthen those areas fight straps attach to.

Thanks - current list of enforcer mods (at least in jerseys I own) is below -

Not that I've ever seen - those loops are pretty strong! Not sure to what they attach the front straps though - belt?

Double fight straps with traditional style fight strap sewn in front either behind or below crest -

Brian McGrattan - he shortens his rear fight strap as well

David Koci - Avs did a BRUTAL job with this - see pic below -

Steve MacIntyre

Tim Jackman - at least he did with the Isles

Colton Orr

Double fight straps with skate lace used as front strap -

Shawn Thornton - skate lace is sewn to the back of the NHL shield at the neck and runs the full length of the jersey; he also shortens his rear fight strap

John Erskine - skate lace sewn to front just below the neck

Shortened fight straps - both of these guys are minor league goons -

Dane Byers

Brett Angel

Neck reinforcements -

George Parros

Patrick Bordeleau - his is pretty unique - pic of it is below

Chris Neil

Koci Avs front fight strap attachment - crooked and very visible!

Do you collect AHL jerseys as well? My uncle was an AHL lifer who spent his career fighting from 1998 to 2004.
