Hey guys. Just wanted to share a little skate "project" I'm currently working on. It's my pair or retail X7.0s that I've had for a couple of years. I have no intention of selling these so I thought I'd try something out. I decided to take a sharpie to the gray and red parts of the boot, as well as the the silverish part around the heel. I kind of like how it turned out. I'm thinking about doing other bits of the boot like parts of the tendon guard or the rest of the actual boot. I attached some pictures showing what they look like before and after. I haven't seen many posts about people "blacking out" their skates and thought I'd share. Anyone else do something like this?

How much faster will this make you skate? I may do mine based on your findings. Please report.

I find that vapor line hard to look at in terms of design. To me less is more and have always like the classic black skates. My thought is if you make it look a little more clean or possibly do more of the boot it may look good. Just wondering how fast the sharpie will wear off when coming in contact with water

Sharpie will fade to purple

Approximately 6-7 km/hour faster, may or may not be a placebo effect.

I'll have a look at the testors paint and see what I can come up with. Yah ibeck, I have a feeling it will come out a dark purple as well. I can always reapply, but I guess I'd rather have something that's a little more permanent. Also may continue to do more of the boot, I'll update with pictures if that's the case.

try plasti dip on them.

my brother did this to his bicycle frame and some random things around the house and it came out pretty awesome.

The nice part about the plastic dip is if you get overspray onto the holders then just run an exacto knife along the sections that you don't want plasti dip and then peel/rub aways the excess.

it's actually a really cool product, also at least it's not permanent if you want to revert back to stock

Awesome! I'll have to take a look. Any idea what kinds of stores sell this? I'm thinking Canadian tire or something along those lines.

Don't plastidip it. You'll look like an idiot when it flakes and peels all over the ice, not to mention how dangerous it is if someone skates over the shit peeling off your skates and loses an edge or falls and hits the boards head first.

What brand of "paint markers" are these? Looks amazing. Looks like I'll be doing my tendon guard too.

A couple updates. I went out and got the paint pen that theruz23 suggested and I decided to do the whole skate. They look freaking amazing and have a glossy finish. 20141026_192339_zpsrmvu7iit.jpg 20141026_192439_zpsv70pzue2.jpg 20141026_192504_zpswirhxvia.jpg

They look great.

I used a sharpie on the yellow accents on my totalones. Started to fade to purple though. Guess I'll pick up some of that paint marker stuff.
