If you had the chance to get a piece of gear signed, would you?

Looking for opinions/thoughts on this because I keep flipping back and forth.
Recently picked up a Claude Giroux APX off Ebay. He's coming to a place near me tonight to sign autographs, and I'm contemplating having him sign the stick. It'd cost me like $50 and I'd have to wait probably 2 hours in line just to get it, but I'm seriously tempted. Of course this would mean that I couldn't/wouldn't actually USE the stick, which I've been dying to do ever since I got it.
So, would you guys get a piece of gear signed if it meant you couldn't/wouldn't use it anymore? Does it depend on the player? I'm also thinking that a signed Giroux stick might have some serious value down the line...

It all depends on you, my Anisimov Vapor XXXX gloves appear to be signed, but I use them anyway because they are damned comfy and I really don't care about the sig. If I had an item as a collectable and didn't buy to use, then yeah, I'd get it signed and stick it up on my wall. But if I bought it to use, like you did with you APX, then I'd use it, even if it was signed.
Phrasing people! Phrasing!!!

I don't think I'd get anything signed.

I've got a couple sticks/gloves/jerseys in my personal collection that are signed. I don't intend on selling anything so it comes down to whatever you want to do.
Some people don't like getting memorabilia signed because it can hurt the resale value as some collectors want their piece of equipment in exactly the same condition that it left the ice in.
That being said, if you do decide to get your stick signed, do not get it signed on the stick tape. The tape will harden and chalk up in a short time. I usually get it signed on the hosel area if the tape job is still in tact.

If your bag has wheels, you don't.

I had decided to get it signed, but it looks like I get a little longer to think about it. The auto session was supposed to include Jags, Giroux, Briere and Reader. Giroux and Briere bailed on the session. Flyers are back in TO in a couple weeks, so hopefully they'll come back then.

I have some pro stuff signed and some that I use. For me it all depends on what you want to do with it, if its a personal fav player, etc. I have a few Alex Semin pro stock sticks that I actually use, and I have met him a few times (never actually had the sticks on me anyway) and haven't ever had him sign any of the gear because I actually planned on using the sticks. Now that one has a crack in the blade I would like to have him sign the hosel area and hang it up on my wall someday. On the other hand, I have some stuff signed by Backstrom, Green, few others that I won't use for fear of ruining it. I was also lucky enough to meet Brooks Laich recently and after talking hockey for a few mins he learned I had recently broken the TUUKs on my old Vapors. Long story short--he invited me to practice and actually gave me a bunch of his gear and asked me if I wanted to use it or should he sign it, I was trying not to be greedy so I said he really didn't need to do anything special. Being the straight dude that he is, he ended up hooking me up with some signed game worn collectibles AND some newer gear for my own use. Now I have the best of both worlds, pro gear for the growing collection, and pro gear for the ice. I sort of go by the rule-if they are HoF or likely getting there someday its not getting used or ruined by me unless I have backups. Jags, Toews, Ovi, Crosby, etc...as much as I'd love to put that gear on or use those twigs, I would rather have them 25 years from now hanging on my man cave wall so my kids and I can enjoy the stories they bring.
