BLPA Draft Experience Tournaments

Not looking good for any of them sadly. We ran a test to see what locales would be interested and Philly or DC didn't make the cut. NY did but the price for ice in the city is incredibly crazy. We met with Chelsea Piers and they wanted over 1000 bucks an hour. I really want to do Philly but we'd need at least 50 locals to commit to it and I don't see that happened. We never have that much local support for a first time tourney.
Instead of NYC you could go with northern NJ. Much less expensive for ice time and very close to the city. I could make a ton of suggestions for rinks that would fit the bill.

The big part is local support. We can do one anywhere with at least 50 locals. The problem is because of the "different experience" and the pricing it take locals a couple years to buy in. In light of that we have to do "destination" tournaments to build up a base of locals that would support a tournament in places like NJ. I've never been to NJ , I'm sure it's beautiful but I don't hear our current customer base saying it would be awesome to go to New Jersey.

Chelsea Piers is really overpriced, no matter what. There are a number of outdoor rinks in New York City around Central Park like Lasker, as well as outer-borough rinks in Queens such as City Ice. I'm sure you probably checked though...
