Hi All,

First off, let me say that I know how a helmet should fit. The problem is that when I got back into hockey I noticed pretty much none of the newer helmets fit like I feel like they should. I came from the old CCM HT2 era...lol.

With that being said, I have a 7k, IMS 9, and Resistance 300 that all "fit," but slide down to my eyebrows during games, like as if above my forehead is a little small. I wear Oakley half shields.

Not looking to shave padding or anything, but possibly add foam pods or something. Looked into Maltese sports but they are sold out of this stuff.

Just wondering what people have tried or recommend.

Call me a moron, but I wear a Medium 4500 with all the thinner padding removed. It's essentially just the VN foam left in the helmet and fits like a glove. It's essentially like an HT2 with the thin padding now

If your helmet is sliding down during games, doesn't that mean it's too big? Have you tried ALL the helmets in all the sizes? You have some pretty different ones already, but if I were you I'd go to the LHS and spend an hour and put on every damn one of them before going and trying to add or subtract stuff from your bucket.

I've really have tried them all, what I have plus Easton's.  All have the same issue and I have the helmets set correctly as I've been through this for years.  Maybe I have a little too much neck fat LOL because the main issue is when I lean forward or shrug my shoulders.  Helmet pops up and forward.

Pretty sure I have a weird head and possibly low brow if you will (LOL). FWIW....I tried on my old HT2's and they still fit the best, but have cracks in them.  There's got to be some solution out there just to beef up padding in some places.

Buy yourself a tennis headband, slip it on then try the helmet and adjust the size and see if it fits better. Now you know if some extra padding will help, if it does you can adjust it to fit by cuttng the head band in half (or however long you need it) add velcro to it and inside your helmet then stick it in place. Make up a number of them, with velcro you can take them out and give them a rinse every now and then and rotate them.

It sounds like you need a helmet that fits shallower in the forehead area. I would recommend going back to your LHS and trying on more helmets until you get a proper fit.

Honestly, I've tried them all. The Easton ones fit the best but they didn't have black.

Rather than going with a sweat pad, I'm thinking there has to be foam pads for this very problem.

These and then cut them to shape

or try silicon gel footpads and cut them to shape and glue them in. Whatever you do you will most likely end up having to lift the liner, slide the piece underneath and glue it in then reglue the liner back on top.

This was more of what I was thinking of, but unfortunately they are out of stock and will not be getting more, as I contacted them on facebook.

The maltese product is an expensive solution for a already fitted helmet, the reason why I suggested a low cost alternative. Goalies I know customise their helmet for fit so maybe ask away in their forums and see what they are using if maltese aren't producing anymore.
