How did they go from their 2016 prices, which were insanely good, to this garbage?

It was a bizarre sale. It did take hours in line to go into their small (maybe 20' x 25') very dark "pro shop". Some people that were standing in line gave up and left because they had to be somewhere, perhaps for Father's Day. A local said the prices were very good LAST YEAR and he had gotten there at 8AM and was home by 9:30. One of the the working guys, who directed the lines, said he was a little upset they had the sale on Father's Day. The crew had worked until 2 AM Sunday morning setting the inventory up and returned at 6 AM to get underway. He also said the turnout (buyers) was a fraction of what they had expected. I was in the pro shop about 10:30 ( with perhaps 15 people left in line behind me) and there were still 5 rows, 2 deep of bags hanging on the wall. They were in very good shape and looked rather cool with the teal stripe, but for $200, passable. They did have a lot of skates left and the pants ($100) were 2 deep of 6-7 rows. Someone is going to eat a lot of stock or it will sell later or some where else. Not too many people left with gobs of stuff one sees at other pro stock sales. I'll will be sure to skip the sale next year.

I was among the first dozen in so I got a pretty good look at what they had (which wasn't much)... maybe half a dozen shin pads / shoulder pads / helmets, three or four pairs of elbow pads. Decent-sized pile of pants, most pretty well used. TONS of gloves, new and used. Good skate selection as well. Stick selection was a little thin. Few pairs of goal pads, lots of goal pants. Best was the jersey selection; game-worns were going for $100 and blank CCMs in the bag were $75.
Most disappointing was the lack of "fun" stuff... no player / toiletry bags, no helmet decals, no socks, very little apparel (some hoodies and hats, that's about it).
I will say that the prices were good... I picked up one game-worn jersey, three brand new LH Jetspeed sticks, a pair of 7K Pro elbows and a matched Bauer 2X Pro glove / blocker set all for around $550.

Since they were trying to clear out though, they happened to drop prices to 50% off 5 mins after I got there, so I ended up picking up a barely used pair of QLs for $17.50 and three brand new Comtois AS1s for my buddy and three brand new Morand Ribcors (both wrapped as Jetspeeds) for $37.50 a pop. Slim pickings, but best priced sale I’ve ever been to.
