Habs fans, are you happy with the arrival of Andrew Shaw?

Eller was a nice fellow, but no one will miss him.

IMO, Eller and Shaw are more of the same.

PROBLEM IS, we got 2 late 2nds for Eller and gave 2 early 2nds for Shaw. +1.0M$ in contract, less term, and I do not see him as a top6 player.

Shaw has heart and grit, but Eller has more skill. What is frustrating about Eller is he will look like a top player for a few games a season, but won't be that noticeable for most.

I like Shaw for the third or fourth line, but not at the 4.5 Mil I have heard he is looking to get. If they can sign him for around 3 then it wouldn't be too bad.

What they really need is a another true top 6 scoring winger....but those aren't exactly easy to acquire.

You need guys like Shaw to win games in the playoffs, thing is you should be able to find them for less than 3.9mm AAV.

Great trade, Montreal can really use his gritty game and stanley cup experience

I do like the style Shaw plays and he will certainly bring more grit and I think be an emotional leader similar to Gallagher brings to the team.

What is interesting, is that he is paid like a 2nd line player, however ideally I think he should be a 3c. I also think Bergevin should have given him less term on this new deal.
