So, chatting with Stephen at BASE. Management at BASE Hockey is willing to do the same thing that they did with the Pro Kane/Pro Giroux/ Shanahan curve. Basically, they want a proof of return on the investment of offering the Kovalev/Perron pattern in a tapered blade (Which would allow it to be used in their custom one-pieces as well).

So, they need 24 orders, total, of product in this pattern. It can be a combination of left and right handed orders, but the magic number is 24.

I know that this curve/pattern has a cult following, and that this may be of interest to those that like the curve.

I am sure Stephen can chime in with details.

What version of the pattern? I know Kovy gradually added more toe to his pattern. Perron has a pretty large amount and drastic variations to his curve as well.

I have pictures that he sent me (Not the highest quality). But, they look like the ones he used when he was with the Penguins and Panthers (lots of toe). I will post them when I get home tonight.

These are the photos sent to me from the factory - definitely not the best quality. From my own expierence photographing patterns, the pattern can look significantly more open or closed depending on how the camera is aimed. Kovalev has indeed had a few different variations of his pattern but the shape, rocker and length have stayed the same. This is our only pattern on file for him and it is .620 LH prostock only.

We're talking about making this a short hosel RH and LH tapered version avaiable in OPS .If anyone has a sample blade we can mold that one, mirror it to RH too and return the sample to you. Obviously we'd want to release the blade that the community agrees is the most popular version.

If I can collect 24 OPS orders we will make this happen. As stated, it can be ordered on any OPS model we offer - Savoy, Supernatural, Nasty, Nasty R. If and when we hit 24 we will also release this in .520 tapered LH & RH blade only. Contact me if you are interested in this pattern.

that is the one that kovalev used from his time to ottawa to the end on his career , kovalev has added more toe to his curve when he switched to the black and silver AK27 in 2009 with montreal , before that ( gold AK ) the curve was straight with a very little toe

These blades are from Kovalev's brief stint with the Penguins at the end of the 2011 season. It has the toe-curve that I like, and would want on the BASE order. It seems to be the same pattern that BASE has.

Close, but the Kovalev pro is a bit more open, the rocker is huge, and the blade is very long.

I'll be receiving an actual sample tomorrow afternoon. I will post high quality photographs of what I have. I've been told the mold we have is from his last year in Florida.. his very last pattern.

Here are 4 photos of our actual Kovalev pro that we produced in a long hosel .620 blade. This was used by Kovalev during his last year in Florida. The last photo is next to our BC92 (P92 clone).

Here's a different angle looking over the top. I mirrored it in photoshop to help visualize a RH.
