It seems a lot of pro players, even juniors and colleges use these shin guards. Most of the time when I see college level players their shins seem so slim and low profile. Right now I'm using retail reebok 20k pros and they feel huge as well as look it in my opinion. They are definitely protective, I rarely feel anything in them.

Is there a huge difference between the two? If so I'm definitely going to be getting some 8ks!

If you strip out alot of the extra padding on the 20Ks they are the exact same as the 8k Pros. Also, keep in mind that, most of those guys keep the same pair of shins extremely long amounts of time and have "trained" the pad with tape to hug their legs. Most of them do not have any straps on the shins at all, they are held on exclusively with tape.

The shells are HDPE, which is a theromoplastic. It could be they're baking them and molding them shrinkwrapped around their legs. They could also be replacing the padding/liners with something thinner, as JoeyJ0506 said.

Thanks for the responses! All of what was said makes sense, but they still seem to look bulky. i've removed most of the added on parts so maybe i need a different liner. Some of these college kids don't even look like that have shin guards on

That's because most college kids havent put on grown ass man weight yet.

Has anyone taken/sent their shin pad liners to be repaired and where? A tailor? A sports equipment-specific repair specialist?

Just curious.

I actually prefer the 7k pro to the 8k pro. I have both and use the 7k all the time. I find they hug my leg better than the 8k. Probably because of the lack of the hyperextension style.

Pardon my ignorance, as I have never held a pair of 8k Pros: could you outline what padding you'd strip and other changes you'd (theoretically) do to the 20k to make the more like the 8k Pro?

From what I understand, the 8kP are tanks, and the 20k are pretty beefy as-well, so would the 8kP feature denser (and therefor thinner) foams / liners / etc?

Yes, 100%! 8K gets in the way of full extension, too.
