Not sure if it's my skating style, or I have exceptionally pointy ankles or something, but they are wearing away at the ankle points inside the skate. It's through the foam and starting to get close to the plastic. I don't feel it, and my ankles don't hurt while I skate.

 

Anyone experience this, or know a way to stop this so I don't have to buy a new pair? The rest of the skates are in great condition.

What is the liner material? Post up a pic of the wear area.

Can't now, working in the middle of nowhere Alberta. I'll be back tomorrow night, then I can shoot up some pics.

Poor heel lock, abrasive sock, old grip liner, wear from tongue, could be lots of things but it's hard to guess with the info you've provided.

Skates are Bauer Supreme .07 skates (so about two years old). Lace them up pretty tight, a bit loose, and tuck the laces up into my shin guards. Tongue gets tucked up into the shin guard, and sides of the tongue are into the skate.

 

I'll post pictures when I get home. It just was strange to me because the wear is circular and centered in the same area on both skates.

Sounds like the skates are just a little loose where your ankle is making contact and is where away just a bit. Happened to one of my former teammate's skates where is was worn in a small round section. Do you feel your foot slipping at all? Are you wearing socks? Do you notice any wear on them?
