Hey Guys, got a pair of ultra tacks coming tomorrow. any reviews / thoughts. also, is the big thing that is different between the ultra & super tacks. the super is a one piece skate & the ultra is 2 piece ( has out sole glued to boot ). but is pretty much the same otherwise. Thanks

I just skated on my ultra tacks for the first time yesterday. I was recently in Bauer mx3 pro and jetspeeds before those. The tacks gave me a better and closer wrap then the mx3. Once I hit the ice I felt more connected to the ice and that may be due to the better fit or boot construction. The difference between the ultra tacks and super is correct with the super being a one piece boot, which for the extra money I couldn't justify for what I play. Really happy with the skates I got

Received them today, wore them with a skating sock for an hour, watching t.v. felt awesome. very little - space. tell me Vrsxin, do you use the S/B holders & black runners. I have a pair of 2014 pro stock tacks , my size ( 7.5D ) & did not like them ( holders & runners ) I felt, i was not getting great traction. tried the hyperglide , black & step steel runners. hated them all. put on tuuk edge holders w/ Ls3 runners , much better. think maybe I should try deeper hollow this time with the black runners, before I change them over. I just tell my guy, sharpen them.

I am using the stock holder and sb black blade and I like it better then the tuuk ls3 I had on the Bauer. I feel more explosive and not on my heels,

Rather than starting a new thread... I'll use this one.

How does the Tacks skate size compare to other brands like Bauer?

I wear a 8.5 D/A Bauer APX skate and the skate size didn't match up to a pair of CCM RBZ skates in a 8.5 D/A a few years ago. I had to size down to an 7.5 D/A because of how big the RBZ's ran. Would I have to do the same thing with a pair of CCM Tacks?

I actually went up 1/2 size from my Bauer APX 2's.  Probably could have stayed the same size but didn't know much the padding would pack out.  I'm about 20 skates on them and toe is just brushing the toe cap

I spoke with our local CCM rep about this.  The sizing of the RBZ and previous gen Tacks were off by 1 size compared to Bauer.  The current gen is off by only a 1/2 size.  The sizing on the next gen Tacks will be on par with Bauer.
