I was wondering if anyone had been to any outdoor rinks in downtown Chicago. I will be going during the winter and was wondering if there are any ideal outdoor rinks with some pick up hockey.

Thanks

Hey man, hope I'm not coming in too late on this.

There aren't many outdoor rinks for hockey downtown (as in the loop), just the Millennium Park rink for skating and the Maggie Daley Ice Ribbon, which is kinda cool, but there are several in the city.

The park district has several outdoor rinks, all or most of which have hockey.  Midway isn't far from downtown and is right by University of Chicago, I would recommend that one. Warren Park is on the North side and is good too. McFetridge is indoor but has open hockey occasionally. http://www.chicagopa...ties/ice-rinks/

In Wicker Park they build a community rink in the winter that has hockey. I would call the park to check hours and such.

Also, you can occasionally find people playing pond hockey on North Pond in Lincoln Park if it has frozen well enough.

Hope this helped and I'm not too late!

I'm also a little late on this response, but thanks a lot for the information! I go a couple of times a year so this is very useful information. Thanks again!
