Most of you know me as the Draft Tournament Guy, or maybe the Beer League Talk Guy, but probably mostly the Eagle Gloves Guy! I'll like all of those titles I love this group and the dudes I have gotten to meet because of it! You guys rock!
I'm starting a crazy initiative Jan 1st and I'm hoping I can get your support, help, input, love? I am teaming up with The Heart and Stroke Foundation and playing hockey every day for 31 days to promote heart health & heart disease prevention to beer league hockey players. I will be filming every game with a variety of cameras and releasing a vlog on YouTube every day to document this journey. My goal is to have adult hockey players realize that heart disease is serious and it can start plaguing us even in our early 20's. Prevention is the best defense but being active & eating better can help reduce our risks greatly.
This initiative started after I met a CWHL player for the Calgary Inferno. She started a charity called Keep the Beat to promote heart health awareness. Her dad passed away after having not 1 but 2 separate heart attacks while playing hockey. As a 34 year old who is expecting his first kid, taking better care of myself has been dominating my thoughts lately. A lot of my health issues are self inflicted and something that I can rectify by taking control of things. I think a lot of it has to do with we all think nothing like that can happen to us.
I'd love if you guys joined me on this journey. It'd be great if you could do something as simple as subscribing to our youtube channel : Youtube.com/c/beerleaguetalk. I'd also be stoked if you could share our channel with the people you play with/against on your social network. It'd be really cool if you played as much hockey as you can in January to increase awareness & shared your story with us on our Daily Vlogs.
If you're someone who loves helping out causes like this monetarily you can donate at Patreon.com/beerleaguetalk. Every new donor we get in January will have their money donated directly to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
If you're part of a hockey company that would like to get involved with this shoot me a PM or email me email@example.com
Thanks for listening dudes! See ya'll on the ice!
