With the anniversary of the Clint Malarchuk skate cut incident yesterday, I've seen some discussion about wearing neck protection past junior levels.

I know it's super bendy, but do any of you old guys wear it?  I was reminded why I wear full face protection the other night when my D partner got smacked in the mouth by a flying puck while sitting on the bench, but I've only ever seen one other guy at my rink wear neck protection.

The shirts with built-in slash guards look alright, but there's no way I can floss my pro stock speedies over it.

What say you?

I have to in my league and I really dont mind it. I think people make a big deal out of having to wear it.

Do you wear just the standalone guard or a shirt with one built-in?

Yeah, it's mandatory in all the leagues I've played in Montreal. Never been an issue for me at all!

Hockey Quebec makes it manditory for all players:

"a neck protector complying with Bureau de normalisation du Québec Standard NQ9415-370 Protège-cou pour joueurs de hockey et de ringuette dated 90-05-15"

TBH I've never heard anyone complain about wearing one either. The velcro gets caught in my hair sometimes but that's about the only draw back lol

Yea, same here Shoeshine. Seems to be more of a Canada thing.

Noticed that in the WJC too when you see the Canadians all wearing them but not on the US side.

I believe you're required to wear them up to the OHL here.

Beer league doesn't require them so no one really wears it. Can't remember to last time I saw someone we played with wearing one.

Looking for BIOSTEEL jersey made by UA or Adidas.

Looking for Bauer Pro defender elbows size Large

Do you guys who are required to wear one in league play find yourselves wearing it at shinny, or just when you have to?

Wear it whenever I'm in an indoor rink, it's routine and doesn't bother me.

When I actually enjoyed going to pick up I wore it out of habit
