Crazy stuff in garage leagues, this is exactly one of the reasons I dont play in any competitive garage leagues.

Not one guy got worked up enough over that to even at least go and say something to the goalie? That has got to be the calmest incident I've ever seen where someone hit someone with his stick.....

We discussed this video at beer league the other night and everyone was baffled, no one figured to go up to the goalie and drop him ...

Good, if there was a better chance of these incidents being handled as criminal offenses it would cut down this garbage exponentially. Too many would-be convicts skating around in beer leagues with free-license to use their sticks as weapons.

I'm all for drinking after the game but I have dropped good players off my team before for show up drunk. Hockey is a true love but you need to respect the game. It's real easy to get caught up in competition, alcohol can make it easy to make some bad decisions.

Here's a link to a couple articles, it actually made vice sports too.

"Ball struck Cox across the face with his hockey stick using both hands, causing him severe injuries including a concussion, a shattered nose, fractures on both sides of his nose and a fractured eye orbital.

Ball was sentenced to 30 days on weekends and one-year of probation for assault causing bodily harm, according to the Toronto Sun"

I believe he's also lost some feeling in his face.  The recovery time was 11 months and he still has some issues. EI definite would not cover for lost wages, he should be able to sue the guy for all he's got, 30 days and one year probation is a fucking joke. There should be real assault charges laid. I don't believe the excuse of "I was drunk" is a good way to get out of anything. If you can't handle your alcohol then don't have it. It's an absolutely disgusting incident.

I thoroughly agree with Dupes, I don't play any organized hockey beer leagues cause of the retards that are in these leagues. I've dropped by my friend's games the odd time to watch when they were in the finals and the crap that goes on isn't even worth it. Skating shinny's and running my own skate where i hand pick who is allowed to come out is way safer that any of these joke leagues. I see too many guys think they have something to prove because they didn't make it.
