They look cool. Like the 1S. Guess they just have to fit your foot shape.

Seeing as the this line has ditched the lace-lock, will that option be available on any of the lines for custom orders?

But lower cut and better flex? That's how it's supposed to be at least.

Source for Sports in Vancouver did a really good extensive review on these...

On a side note, I felt the new Jetspeeds, and honestly...not impressed! They felt really cheap, like a pair you would get from Canadian Tire. The tendon guard was already warped on the first skate I pulled out, from being in the box.

I read that. There's some good info in there, but it's a lot of fluff and puff, regurgitating marketing slurry that I don't think really holds up to scrutiny.

That doesn't detract from the idea of the skate. I think it's what I've been hoping someone would make. Kind of like Mission's Supple Fit for this decade.

I’m using the 70ks right now and I really like them.
A little background:
I was skating in grafs that had for like 15 years, until I switched to Bauer 1s about a little over a year ago. Loved the 1s, but they started giving me lace bite around 8 months into owning them. Tried all the tricks and nothing helped, so I bought the 70k when they came out and using them ever since. Also, I skate between 1-3 times a week, depending on the week.

Out of the box:
They’re a very comfortable skate, and I loved the feeling of these right out of the oven (that feeling never really stood out to me before these). The boot is a little more flexible than the 1s, as marketed, which is why I bought them.

Skating:
It took me a little getting used to the first few skates. The 1s LS4 steel is taller than the black steel on the 70k, so I would bottom out a few times when doing sharp turns (side note: I’m a huge fan of the black steel now, because of the 70k, just wish it was taller like the ls4). Also getting used to the stiff tendon guards took some time, as the 1s guards flex and move when skating. After I adjusted to it, I love these skates and don’t see myself switching again. I’m guessing it has to do with the more flexible boot, but my lace bite is no longer being aggravated or hurting; I do feel like I’m able to move my feet better; and I feel like I glide through the ice better.

Obviously, if I didn’t have the lace bite issue, I wouldn’t have stopped using the 1s; however, the 70k have been a great skate for my situation. I did go back to my 1s for one skate last week and, immediately, felt the difference in boot stiffness. Went back to the 70k later last week and am not looking back.

Hope that was helpful.

Thanks Lonzy, curious how did your sizing transfer from the 1s to the 70k?

Do you feel that the stiff tendon guard gets in the way of your toe flick at the end of the stride?

Interesting about the 70k tendon guard. I have the 66k and the tendon guard is very flexible.

I went with the 66k due to budget, coming from Bauer 1X, and I'm happy. Very comfortable boot and I noticed and improvement in my speed and balance. I'm not a fan of the aggressive forward pitch of the Vapor, I skate more relaxed and upright as a defenceman.

I'd love to get some 70k when I can find them on eBay for "skated twice and don't like" prices.

I think it did at first, but it was no longer an issue after a few skates.

Well the 1s tendon guards are literally a plastic piece that bends, depending on which piece you put in to determine its flexibility. So when I switched to the 70k, whose guards don’t have that type of movement, it was a big difference in feel when skating. I haven’t skated in 1x, but I know their guards do not have the flexibility of the 1s; so, although the 66k may be and feel more flexible than the 1x, the comparison is similar because they’re both inflexible tendon guards, the 1s vs. 70k guards are two different types entirely.

I got some new 70k's cheap, and skated on them for the first time today. Now I see what you mean about the tendon guard, it is totally different on the 70k versus the 66k. The boot is much lighter and stiffer, and I had great edge control. Really happy with this purchase.
