Hi guys, for last several years I cannot find proper size of shin guards.

The problem is that 14 inch is too long and covering 3 upper skate eyelets, so leg looks ridiculously wide.

And 13 inch in every brand has too small knee cap, does not fit my calf and overall coverage.

SO now i am wearing Sherwood 5030 shins in 14 and it is kind of 13.5 size and fits well like in pics below, i love this fit but want smth more protective.

Does anyone have same problem? Any solution?

Jeff carter style. Cover no eyelets and "let the goalie see the lane"

Edit: I have big calfs as well that don't get covered unless I go bulky, so I just live with them exposed lol

mine are just at the first eyelet when stand straight and cover 2 eyelets when I bend my knees.
Only problem is the wear of skates liner around the first eyelet.

I have large calves, and have to wear knee braces on both legs.

I normally have my shins cover the top two eyelets, with shins over tongues. I normally tape the shin pads down, as the straps arent long enough to go around the calves/braces.

An alternative I can suggest is to go with the larger shin pads, and cut some of the plastic off the bottom. However, this modification is at your own risk, and its up to you if you want to do the mod.

I've thought about cutting 1" off the bottom of my shins, but as a Defenceman I block a lot of shots.
