Which player do you think they will definitely draft ?

I think they'll take Hudon off Montreal unless Montreal made a deal with them. Personally, I would've protected Hudon and left Shaw unprotected. Shaw has a 3.9 million dollar cap hit and will actually make 5.5 million this year. He's not a bad player, but that's quite a bit of money for a forward whose career high for points is 39. Hudon has a lot of offensive upside and was just signed to a cheap 2 year deal with the first year being a 2 way deal. 

 

One could hope that Vegas will take Plekanec (I've always liked him, but his current salary vs. his production doesn't line up. He's still a great 2 way forward, but should be paid closer to 4 million, rather than the 7 with the 6 mil cap hit he's slated to make next year). Emelin is a solid D man who hits well, but his contract is also a bit rich with a 4.1 million dollar cap hit. I think management would have to offer picks as compensation for Vegas to take Emelin or Plekanec over Hudon though.

Here are some other players I see them taking if deals aren't made to protect them:

 

Marc-Andre Fleury from the Pens - proven number 1 with a reasonable cap hit. Pens are looking to go forward with Murray and just won a cup with him; so I think this is pretty much the only lock of the expansion draft.

Antti Raanta from the Rangers- solid young backup with potential

Matt Dumba from the Wild - young D man coming off a solid season. That's not a lock though as Eric Staal is available and is coming off a good season, they need some veterans and his contract is reasonable.

Ryan Strome from the Islanders if they don't make a pick deal to protect him.
