I have been wearing Graf Ulta G5's and I and others notice they don't give good ankle support, and it does hamper my skating. I weight about 93kg and I'd like to know what skates would give some good support.

How long have you been skating/playing?

Part of your issue might not be the skate but your actual foot. Different models of Graf skates are made for different feet. The ankle depth on the G5s is set for a a deep ankle depth. Are you sure that the G5 is the right skate for your foot? I know that I couldn't wear that model due to the depth and width of the skate.

I have been skating for 3 years, in the UK there aren't many decent hockey shops, so I'm going to goto one, and get measured/fitted properly, just looking for suggestions.

I know on my V10s they had a lace locking mechanism that helped keep it really tight around the ankles. I'm not sure if the newer ccm models offer it. If they do you should give that a try!

Every high end skate provides a good deal of ankle support. The key is getting one that fits you correctly and you are comfortable in. While the Graf G5 skate did fit a deeper instep, Graf's were cut low in the ankle to begin with. If you get correctly fitted in a newer tech skate, you shouldn't have an issue.

I broke out my V10s from the impending fate of the storage locker to show you their technology that I absolutely loved when I was first getting back and needed the extra ankle support.

What exactly is your definition of poor ankle support?

When I was doing forward crossovers, the toecap of the boot it's self was touching the ice, it could be my technique, but others on the team have noticed my knees bend inwards

I'd say it's more your technique than the skates, bud. Take some power skating lessons before you go investing in another pair and find you're still having the same issue
