Hey all. Just a heads up if you are selling on ebay these days. There is a rash of hacked accounts buying things. Half won't end up paying, but some do. Soon after you will receive an email asking to change the shipping address to

Hello, accidentally ordered for the old address, here is my right address
600 Markley St. Suite 094445
Port Reading, NJ 07064

Unless the user notices from the emails they get, ebay does not catch on for a few days, in which case you would have shipped the item out. A few times the user will notice and make a claim on it and the money will be held pending review in which case you will be forced to refund it. Or if it is not noticed, a week or 2 down the road when it shows on their credit card bill the same will happen. And as you have changed the shipping address to the unconfirmed one you will loose the money and the product.

I have had 12 of these in the last week, 8 of which were the paid sort. Lucky I have not been stung as I did a search of the address before shipping. But I know of a few people who were stung for their products,

If you sell something and you get that email. Cancel the transaction and refund the money right away. Then report it to ebay, and paypal. If you don't get payment, just wait out the non payers alert, or cancel the transaction. In both cases ebay will refund your fees and let you relist if you click the box for buyer asked to cancel the order. If you do not, message ebay and tell them and they will.\

I had some guy file a claim for something he bought in May on Friday... yet he made purchases in April but didn't file the claim then. Uploaded the transactions to the PayPal dispute and they told me I'd be getting my money back since it was the same address on both transactions and confirmed addresses.

Just got this today from username obyobrie-lidnn2 with the exact same message in the original post. I blocked and refunded the buyer. Thanks for the heads up!

"What is your lowest/best price?" is NOT an offer.

Update: Someone tried to pull this one on me again using a different hacked account. I am taking everything off of eBay and only selling on here for now. Make sure to only ship to confirmed addresses.
