I know there have been numerous threads on removing the stickers and markings from retail helmets. I found this method has been the easiest, most effective way to remove everything undesirable without damaging the helmet.

I just received my new CCM Tacks 310 helmet in white today with a new CCM Revision visor, and wanted to set it up as a Leafs away helmet. Here's what you will need:

- Goof off

- A magic eraser, preferably with one side smooth and one side textured

- A paper towel

That's it.

Start with the fresh helmet, and put a half dime sized amount of Goof Off on the corner of the magic eraser.

Before:

After about 30 seconds of scrubbing with moderate pressure:

After one minute or so of scrubbing. When you first scrub, there will be a lot of black/white come off, so move to a different part of the magic eraser with fresh Goof Off and wipe the area clean with the paper towel.

After 2-3 minutes of scrubbing. Looks good to me. No sign of the CCM logo anymore.

Once the logos are removed, take a hair dryer to the back of the helmet. Warm up all the stickers, and peel them off slowly. This will loosen up the glue so they come off more cleanly. If you pull them off and the paper remains, you'll scratch the plastic trying to get it all off with your fingernail. If there's any glue/paper left, use the Goof Off and magic eraser to clean it up, then wipe it all clean with a paper towel.

Once all this is done, apply your team decals. I take my time with this so they're straight. Finally, adjust the chin strap to your liking, and cut off the excess, leaving a little bit (maybe 1/2-3/4") past the buckle. After you cut it, burn the end with a lighter, so it doesn't fray.

Then there ya go. You have a pro stock helmet at non-pro stock prices. I personally love the Tacks 310 helmet over all other helmets I've ever tried. It is BY FAR the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn. So I'd rather do this on my retail helmet then having a "pro stock" helmet that isn't perfect. To me there's very little difference. Maybe a little less gloss, and the rear adjustment piece on the Tacks 310 doesn't match the Resistance pro stock. Big deal. (Don't mind the dog hair, the helmet had static and the dogs were running around like loons when I was trying to do this.)

The CCM on the side of the helmet is what a lot of people had trouble removing for some reason it's on their pretty good. Good to see that you found a method.

Looking for BIOSTEEL jersey made by UA or Adidas.

Looking for Bauer Pro defender elbows size Large

Yep, the Bauer on the 4500's comes off in like three swipes. The CCM takes some scrubbing. But that said, the CCM shows less "wear" after removal, the Bauer's seemed to remove the gloss very easily.

Where do you get your stickers from? Also, +1 on the Tacks 310/710 line of helmets. CCM really hit a homerun with the fit and finish at that price point. Cannot be beat.

$179.99 US for the Tacks 710, and $299.99 for the Re-Akt. No brainer.

The stickers were from Ice Warehouse.

I dunno know about the rest of you guys, but when I make an irreversible modification to anything I own, I throw out all intention of selling that item in the future (unless someone specifically asks me if they can purchase it). So like, I'll never try to sell a stick that I've cut down to size.

Custom everything.

I've sold cut sticks, gloves with cut loops, and helmets with logos removed. I just never pretend something is not exactly what it is. If it's a retail helmet, I say so. If the stick is cut, I say so. Just give lots of detail and be honest.

If someone is going to cut a stick anyways, why can't they buy one that you cut as well? As long as they know the stick length and there's picture of the cut, so they know what they're getting. Same goes with thumb loops... I've bought gloves with cut loops, and I've sold ones with cut loops.

It's a personal choice, probably tied to some mild form of OCD. The same logic makes me less likely to buy any sort of used equipment in general.

But also, I've found it more difficult to sell stuff that's already been modified because unless the buyer is looking for exactly that modification, they won't buy it. And the chances of someone willing to settle for exactly that modification are much lower than someone who would be okay buying a new item and changing it themselves. So I don't want to deal with the time needed to sell something like that.

Custom everything.

i recommend using lectric shave instead of goof off. in my experience it works better and its less harmful to your hands.

A little follow up for anyone else who uses SportStar decals. I found that the numbers were coming off fairly easily on the back of my Tacks helmet since they didn't sit flush. I got another set of stickers, and this time used a hair dryer to heat up the numbers after I applied them. Then I pushed down hard and got every bit of the sticker to make contact with the helmet. The plastic number actually stretched a bit in the corners. No issues now.

Also, Ice Warehouse has the new Leafs logo stickers and Vegas white stickers in stock, FYI.

Use nail polish remover to take off the brand logos, worked really well for me.
