I must be stupid or something because I can’t figure out how to cut a stick to the same length. So the deal is, let’s say I have a lie 6 stick at length L that I’ve cut some amount of inches off. I buy a lie 5 stick (same curve). How much do I take off the lie 5 stick so it feels like the same length as the lie 6 stick when I’m on the ice? How do I line up the sticks to mark where to cut? Do I stand both against a wall? Do I line up the heels and mark the difference? I have a feeling it's the line up the heels thing but I want confirmation.
Are you trying to ask, what length would you need to add or remove to sticks with different lies, for them to have the equivalent playing feel?
If so, it's a hard question to answer exactly because everyone is different and each curve has a rocker. As a general rule I would say around an 1" for every 0.5 of a lie.
Lower lie = longer sick
Higher lie = shorter stick

I figured it out, but basically what I'm saying is right now I use a lie 5 stick, and I have a stick with the same exact curve but in a lie 4. I like the length of the lie 5 stick in terms of at what point and angle the heel hits the ice, and I want that to be the same for the lie 4 stick. What I don't like about the lie 5 stick is that at the length I like it at, the rest of the curve isn't as flat on the ice as can be. So how do I cut the lie 4 stick so that I get the same length from hand-to-heel (and therefore same angle at which the heel contacts the ice, but since the lie is lower more of the blade will be on the ice at the same angle).
So I figured out to keep Length L the same, I need to line up the heels of the sticks and then cut the lie 4 stick down to match the butt end of the lie 5 stick.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the other two posters were thinking that I should just line the sticks up against a wall and mark how to cut like that, but that wouldn't work because they probably forgot that the lower lie stick would stand higher than the other one so if I cut it down to the same height standing up, it would end up having a shorter Length L.

I got what you were saying from the beginning and what you did makes sense as long as going to Lie 4 will make up for the section of the blade that the lie 5 was not touching the ice. The thing is when you change the lie, angle X and the length of the blade should change with it. Because the lie 5 stick is actually not sized to you correctly anyways (because you are just touching the heel to the ice) you should just start over with sizing the lie 4 to what you want. Put your skates on and see where you naturally want to stickhandle and shoot, then mark it on your top hand.
The way you do it leave alot of room for error, if the lie 4 curve is still not touching the ice then you realized you should of increased L and probably lowered angle X on top of what you did.

stand on skates and hold the stick at your side with your top hand with elbow bent slightly and choke up on it til the blade lays flat. then cut. for me with lie 5 stamkos/couterier sticks, when i'm barefoot and i stand the stick up it comes to my bottom lip. on skates its below my chin
