I’m looking forward to a passionate set of games. Some guys might be fighting for another chance in the NHL. It’s probably close to Spengler cup action and I love watching that tourny every year

As for the roster it’s hard to argue, they took probably the best guys available but I would have liked to see a couple JR guys

On one hand I'm happy for all these guys but I'm also not going to pretend I'm excited for these games. Not only are there no current NHL players, but I'll be pretty hard pressed to wake up at 3 am to watch the Spengler Cup 2.0

It’s good hockey. Sure the NHL guys aren’t there and it doesn’t have that “must watch” mentality tied to it but I enjoy watching the games. The Canada game was good last night and 7am hockey is always great when you are up with a kid

The 3 on 3 overtime of the Canada-Czech game was surprisingly boring

I have zero interest since it's not best on best so I haven't watched anything. This is kind of like watching the AHL. Sure it may be good but if I'm gonna watch something it has to be worth it.

After watching last night, I know why many of these guys are no longer in the show

Let's be honest, it's a tough watch. What are you really looking forward to when you watch it? Are people dying to see how Ben scrivens will play, how many goals Raymond, borque or la Pierre will get. Look at the team roster page and see where the roster comes from, it's a terrible roster for fans and entertainment.

As a fun experiment I went through the team rosters and the only ones worth noting are team Russia for Datsyuk and kolvalchuk and Sweden for Rasmus Dahlin, but they scratched him first game, don't know if he's played yet. Unfortunately for the country that ends up winning the gold medal in hockey will not have the same prestige as gold in previous events. It will be know as the Olympic Games without NHL, saying you're the best of B grade players.

If you're bored go through the rosters. Guaranteed that majority of people don't know 95% of the Olympic team rosters.

Korea should be pretty pissed off for what they paid to host Olympics as hockey has got to be one of the biggest draws for viewership. Without a stoppage in NHL and lack of the top players in the world then who's gong to care.. Many articles have stated that the first few days were one of the lowest viewed in a while.

It’s hockey to watch at 7am on a Sunday or late on a Saturday night. Don’t over analyze it

It’s a bunch of guys getting an once in a lifetime chance to play significantly for their country. I think the Canada game vs Czechs was fantastic as was the Germany/Norway game last night. Sweden/Finland was a great tilt as well. It doesn’t have to be best vs. best to be entertaining hockey

I've watched every Canada game so far and they look good, Bourque has been an absolute beast. The Russians finally changed things up and came out to bang and crash the Americans. Makes me wonder if in 2022 team USA will take a guy like Matt Tkatchuk. He is number one in the league at drawing penalties since last year and he loves that part of the game, plus he can score. They'll have crazy talent with guys like Matthews, Eichel, Boeser, Gaudreau, Kane, Oshie, Keller, Kessel etc but they should really be watching these games to see what's going on. I was thinking to myself while watching yesterday morning, I really wonder if Babcock would of brought guys like Getzlaf, Perry, Toews and Keith for their experience this time around or if they'd replace them for young faster guys like Sheifele, Seguin, and Mackinnon, maybe even Sean Monahan. Team Canada would be crazy, there would be so many locks that I would hate to have to make the decisions on who to cut. If you could only take 14 forwards out of this group:

Sidney Crosby
Connor McDavid
Patrice Bergeron
Brad Marchand
John Tavares
Steven Stamkos
Claude Giroux
Nathan Mackinnon
Taylor Hall
Sean Couturier
Brayden Schenn
Sean Monahan
Jamie Benn
Tyler Seguin
Mark Sheifele
Logan Couture
Mitch Marner
Jonathan Toews
Ryan Getzlaf
Cory Perry
James Neal

Lol my head would explode. Pretty sure the first 6 guys would be an absolute lock
