Does anybody know what type of padding and plastic inserts they use in gloves and shoulder pads?

Always looking for Bauer NXG or MX3 gloves!

As for the padding, it is rather common to use some sort of closed-cell EVA foam.

When doing DIY pads / repairs, I tend to use EVA foam (look for the EVA matts that LARP players use) and for the plastic inserts I use Kydex.

Awesome thanks! And how did you go about cutting the plastic kydex sheets to size?

Kydex is very easy to cut, I did it with both scissors and knives in the past. In order to get it into shape, just heat it up (I use a heat gun) and form it the way you need it. I "cloned" some Jofa slashguards this way, simply pressed the kydex onto the Jofa to get the same shape + dome which gave it strength.
