Currently been using the ccm crazy light shoulder pads for beer league. They are super light and breathable which is great but sometimes feel a little bit bulky on shoulders (more than I need for beer league). I had old Itech shoulder pads laying around so I thought I’d try cutting the shoulder caps off and trying them. Definitely less bulky and low profile but the breathability isn’t good. Problem with altering the ccm ones is the bicep guards are attached to the caps/clavicle guard so if you take the caps off then there’s no shoulder protection at all and would be basically like wearing no pads. Whereas the Itech ones have floating caps so there’s a piece of padding that go under the caps and attach to bicep guard.

Long story short does anyone have any recommendations for somewhat cheap shoulder pads that have floating caps I could cut off and that would still be light and pretty breathable underneath. Whether they are old or new pads (could always try buying used).

The Sherwood vintage ones, you could just undo the stiching and add them right to the CCM CL as one piece.  I did this years ago and it has worked well.

Have a pair of Jofa 8500s I removed the caps to that I never wear, if interested.

With old Farrell pads or the new Verbero Shield pads you can just unclip the shoulder caps. No cutting needed.

I have the CL also and felt the caps were a little bulky. I cut the stitching under the cap where they insert the hard foam inside and just removed it, that got them to sit a little lower. Just an idea and saves a lot of time compared to switch out caps.
