So after a few ankle injuries a piece, I'm trying to minimize any more from happening. I have shot blockers, but they don't cover the tops of the skates. I wear my shin guards over my tongue, but there is still about an inch and a half gap that could be hit by a puck. I've tried the "Shorty" blockers but didn't like the fit or feel, and would prefer something a bit more flexible.
To name a few examples of what I was thinking of, you could picture something like Brent Seabrook or Ron Hainsey use. Hell, even Guy Carbonneau used something like I have in mind if my memory serves me correctly. I was actually going to take an extra set of skate tongues and sew a portion of each to the bottoms of my shin guard liners to hang past the bottom to add that extra layer of flexible protection, but if anyone here has something better to use in mind, I would definitely appreciate the input.
