Hi. I normally wear a warrior PX+ but want to start playing drop in and because I have a feeling less people can control their sticks, I want to grab a cheap helmet and put a cage on it as opposed to the visor on my warrior. It’s a pain to take on and off with the pro clips and plus I use it for the rec league I’m in where I feel comfortable with a visor.

I heard this helmet was designed in the early 90s and was wondering if it is adequate for protection and what’s the differences between it and my warrior in terms of protection. Should I just keep changing cage to visor on my other helmet or just have a separate helmet for drop in.

Thanks a bunch!

It’s a good helmet if it fits your head. It’s a bad helmet if it doesn’t.

The Bauer Reakt is the greatest helmet in the history of man. But I’m biased, cause helmets are only great if they fit your melon properly. I couldn’t wear CCM for the life of me, same with Warrior.

I went with the Bauer IMS9. They had it on clearnece for 80 dollars at sport check. They talked me out of the 4500. It was an extra 10
Dollars for the IMS. thanks everyone!.

Worn a 4500 like 20 years now and love it, some guys on my team hate it cause they dont like the old school padding....personal preference.

Ok thank you. I personally didn’t mind it but the IMS9 felt better. And for the extra few dollars it’s newer.

Good call. I personally would never wear a 4500.

I switched about 6 months ago, and have been very pleased.  Very comfortable helmet, but missing some of the modern safety tech.

It looks the best (when accompanied by a straight cut visor and no ear guards!) but as others have said, as long as a helmet fits snuggly, that's what matters.

I used the 4500 for a long time (see: pic) but switched to a Re-Akt about a year ago due to getting an unreal deal on it. In terms of comfort, the Re-Akt blows the 4500 out of the water, but I will always love the classic and clean look of a 4500.

Yes I agree the 4500 has the best look out of all the helmets. But yeah I felt the IMS9 felt better and for a few dollars more it’s modern. And affordable for its intended use.

All personal preference. I wear the 4500 for drop in games, or sticks and pucks. When i play in a faster paced game, i will wear something with more protection.

Depends on what you need protection from. Helmets don’t stop concussions. Impact from objects is a different story.

4500 or bust nothing else fits my head properly.
