Just looking for some feedback on the second generation 1S stick. Loved the Supreme line until the MX3 went away but I’ve heard of people having issues with breakage with the 1S twigs.

The soft mid/upper section of the stick is more disbursed in the S17 stick compared to the S16. They were breaking in the S16 bc the kick point was too concentrated

Was that corrected with the 17?

Yeah that’s what I was trying to say. It’s what “extended transfer zone” refers to. Similar to the bigger sweet spot on the nexus, just different kick point

So I should take all these retail online reviews with a grain of salt? Seems like they’re plastered with “got the stick and in two weeks it snapped and the one after that did too!”

I actually spoke with a kid who plays D1 NCAA Hockey going into senior year. He had 2017 1S sticks this year and the previous generation in the year before. He told me that he had 4-5 left at the end of the season and typically they get about 20 to start. He said he was breaking them at the kick point and going through 1-2 per week. He said he actually liked the 1st generation 1S better but broke MORE of those than the 2017. He told me that he had breakage in the kick point but a teammate had a lot of blade issues (renew core) all in all he said that he was switching to 1X Lites for next season because his teammates found them to be much more durable. Given the high level of play, 5 practices per week and a couple of games usually they get used a lot but 1-2 per week even at that level is more than I can stomach. Mind you these were S171SSE sticks too, the ones that are supposed to be more durable.

so an NCAA guy told you about sticks that arent at all the same stick that you're interested in. NCAA builds dont use that new core in their blades.

SE model pro Stock sticks are typical in the NCAA and depending on the budget of the school they can choose SE or non SE model sticks. Certain players can even have full customs if they want it depends on the EM, coachesand what they allow. Also SE model sticks are thicker side walled and typically a lot tougher than retail builds. I’ve used SE and non SE models of almost every stick Bauer has made from A26/A42 to MX3SE, APX2/SE, 1N, 1X etc. never have I found a non SE model pro Stock or retail build stick to hold up better than an SE model Bauer pro Stock

So what I’m gathering is that you already know the answer to your question, you just figured you’d ask it any way?

According to the timeline of the findings I’m assuming you’re asking a question that you already know the answer to. I asked a question, got an inconclusive answer and found out from someone who burned through 15 of them in a season and decided to relay it to the masses in a response to a thread that was started for reference because I would get crucified here if I started a new thread to tell the tale. But clearly I asked, but kept asking elsewhere and got new information so you’re asking because you didn’t care enough to read or you’re baiting and unfavorable response. I think it’s the latter because there was zero productive merit in your reply. Zero.

Excuse my ignorance but I don’t think 15 is a lot. I’m no professional hockey player but I think my numbers would be pretty close if I trained as much as the kid. I find my stick either break or go soft after a couple of weeks, mind you I did break 3 pairs of skates last season(1 completely ruined other 2 repairable somewhat) maybe I’m just hard on my gear? Just my 2cents

In my NCAA time our guys would get 1 pair of Bauer per year or two pairs of CCM skates and that usually would be more than enough even with the hours they skate and the level of skill, some guys wouldn’t even need to switch out last years skate until a quarter into the next season or more so you must be at a whole other level. Unfortunately for me and probably 99 percent of men’s leaguers 15 sticks is a lot even at $150 that’s $2,000+. 2 sticks per week is a lot even by NCAA standards but if our guys had sticks that we could use for the team sale at the end of the year that was a win for us.

I go through a lot of sticks be it boredom but if I find a stick I like I need it to have a reasonable lifespan, for me hearing that team sticks in this varietal are going south at this rate that’s too much. I know guys playing in the coast that we’re getting foolish amounts of time out of their LK Tacks sticks and actually preferred them over a lot of others but yea 15 is a lot. I don’t have 90style10skills wallet here.

I know what your saying, I would love a stick that would last but in today’s world things are make to break and be replaced. I love a lot of the older Easton sticks. I think every retail stick I was using would break during warranty that’s one of my reasons I switch to pro stock. I think me being on another level is correct but not higher I’m average at best but I’d be bigger/heavier then most juniors.
