Anybody ever tried changing the print colour (for example, where it says BAUER) on gloves using a paint pen or fabric marker? Any feedback? Worth it or a terrible idea?

You can use markers or india ink but you have to watch out for the ink bleeding into the surrounding material

If your experience is anything like mine, be prepared to reapply the ink. Regularly.
