Is there a reason why prostock jofa/RBK/CCM shin pads are so expensive or sought after in the market?
Are they better than the retail top end model from Bauer and CCM even in these days?

Yes.
My Jofa 5090 shins are over 20 years old. I've sold two sets of back up pairs because I don't think I'll ever get to them. The next oldest piece of gear I have is three years old. The shins just keep on trucking.

My SG 3175's have about 15 years on them and I bought them used. I'm 5' 11" 270 and they've protected my fat rectum outstandingly. I love the Jofa stuff!
I'm also of Swedish Heritage so I gotta wear it but I've been very happy with it
