Anyone have an idea if big buff is using actual true skates or if he has a stockpile of old VHs. I only ask bc he has the older style tendon guard that was part of the boot and not replaceable

I'd assume he is using actual Trues. I think all the pro stuff is made here in Winnipeg and he's always tinkering with them a bit. You can usually find a few of his skates at the local Play it Again here.

I was thinking the same thing. Pavelski's also got the original VH tendon guard but he still has the VH swooshy logo on his...a little harder to see because he has shot blockers on all the time, but it's still there. Buff has the new True bling.

To make Buff's old stock skates look like the current ones, with current True bling patches, I'm guessing would be much more work than just making new pairs.

Furthermore, if you look at Buff's last pairs of skates with the swooshy VH bling (https://media.gettyi...ure-id665455098), there were several other features that we already out of date on VH skates, notably the toe cap and the adjacent quarter panels with the wear patch island piece. It looks like the first pair of VH/True skates he had with the big chunk of plastic toe cap (their currently running toe cap) was with the wedgy True bling.

Identical to Pavelski’s skates this year or to Byfuglien’s?
