Anyone deal with step steel warranty and know if they are pretty strict with the 1 year warranty? Had a pair of black steel for edge holder that broke the other day. Hadn’t used them more than a year and probably only got them sharpened half dozen times at most. Bought them and had them sitting for a while with intention of getting profiled and not doing so. I guess that’s my fault for not using them right away. Anyways they broke the other day about a month or so after the warranty would have ended and as I said I really hadn’t used them that much so it’s a little disappointed for a pair of $140 steel. Is it worth reaching out to them?

And also does anyone have any comparisons to LS5 for durability and performance. Was looking at them possibly since they are a bit cheaper. Could just be a one-off experience for my black steel breaking, although I don’t remember blocking any shots or having any big impacts. I even finished the game before I realized they were broken actually.

Check the holder alignment as well, there are other factors in steel breaking than just the steel itself. In my experience Bauer is very stubborn and firm with their steel warranty, good luck.

Good Idea; Whistling while you work.

Bad Idea; Whistling while you eat.

I used Black Step and it broke, the LHS didn’t have any in stock so I put LS5 on and they are actually pretty good so far imo

contact step steel, if there's barely any wear on the blade i can't see them denying you but it would be on them. step steel is pretty awesome i wouldn't stray away from it.
