Wanted to know if anyone here has tryed Step Xs blades and Tydan Xs blades...Been with Step for 4 years now, have nothing bad to say about Steps steel, but today I had to change Step to Tydan due to Step not having the runners I need and training camp starts next week..has anyone tryed Tydan blades and would love to hear your feedback on them..

Thanks Guys

I have Tydan blades right now. Switched from step black because I found after 6 months the step black would not hold an edge and get damaged very easily.

I find that Tydan is close to step black in terms of performance. But it does lose an edge faster than step black out of the box.

They’re very close but the Tydan you can engrave if that’s your thing.

A buddy of mine who works at a hockey store he used both and the standard step stainless and he says the value for the step stainless is the best ($80 cad) for almost the same performance as Tydan and step black.

I haven’t used the step stainless so I personally have no reference point on those blades

He is right,I had the Step Blacksteel and Step Vsteel, the only thing that I saw different that was the Blacksteel would not show the nicks and scratches on the blade like the V steel(Mirror finish) would show.As per hardness of the Steel are Step and Tydan the same??

Engraving I can get that done at my shop, but not interested in that...just the quality of steel..usally with Step I would sharpen them after 3 or 4 games or practices...

How often would you sharpen non-step steel? After every game/practice? I easily get a dozen games out of step sharpening and I know guys that sharpen theirs after a couple dozen. Every 3-4 games seems like how often you’d sharpen regular steel

A dozen games with one set of runners???Most of the players on the team have the regular Step steel, maybe 2 or 3 guys have the DLC (Blacksteel),and they don't see a difference on edge life..Like the equipment manager said waste of money for the Blacksteel.. reg or V Steel
the only difference the I see is on your glide(stride)on the V-steel...
