Those of you using Pacific Rink bags.... how long have you been using them and how has it held up?

I went on a bit of a birthday spree last week and through a discount I picked up a pair of PR Varsity and Pond bags. I didn't want all the 'fluff' the Player bag offered, but they did sell me a pair of skate holders that I'll be modding the Varsity bag to fit.

Upon receipt, I was surprised at how thin the overall canvas material felt compared to the Bauer bag I've been using for the last season. It just doesn't feel all that durable and wanted to see how it's held up for others.

The Pond Pack is alright. Overpriced for what it is and how it's made, but there's nothing else that really does what it does on the market. The straps are absolutely pathetic as free corporate giveaway backpacks have more robust and better padded straps. I feel the felt lining could have been a much softer microfiber material. Canvas again feels thin and cheap, but I guess I'm used to Filson canvas so perhaps I'm expecting too much.

Still not quite sure if I'm going to keep either as I'm not exactly sold on how durable the Varsity bag is although I'm kind of stuck with the Pond Pack because I want a bag I can chuck the bare minimum into and no other backpack accomplishes that

If you haven’t looked into “ Conway and banks “ bags I suggest you do. They are very nice and excellently made. Tons of reviews around on them also you can watch.

I don’t see any reviews outside of hockey tutorial’s video. I see a handful of posts with people asking questions about the bag but no in depth reviews or non-stock photos. Regardless, I’m not interested. I don’t need/want all the dividers and gimmicks. I simply want a durable bag with skate pockets/holders. That’s the extent of the organization I’m looking for.

Also not at all what I was asking for in my initial post.

I bought the pond pack for work almost 2 years ago. In retrospect, I would have purchased a jrz or warrior coach's bag, which is more or less the same amount of volume minus backpack straps. Stuff does fall out, particularly skates if not secured properly. I'm not a huge fan of hanging my helmet on their exterior strap either.

Would be doing a disservice not watching the video where he compares that with pacific rink and grit. I know people at The rink we went away from PR after a teammate got one. The “ gimmick “ is far from it. You have a place for skates. One for elbows and gloves. Another for pants, helmet and the rest of the gear. I tried the dividers once thinking I wound not liked them and haven’t taken them out.

Plus save yourself 50$ on a better bag. But what do I know.

You're acting like I haven't seen the video before, but stated there are 'tons of reviews around'. Where are the other reviews? I also stated I purchased the Varsity bag which is $60 cheaper than the C+B bag

Thanks! Everything has held up well for you over the last 2 years? I know they changed the design of the skate pockets from their kickstarter bag, but what else would fall out? I like the backpack idea for walking anywhere so my hands are free (or one hand is since the other would be carrying a stick). I don't wear backpacks apart from backpacking in the mountains, but figured the bag could also double as a travel bag if I wanted it to since it's fairly large. The straps had me concerned about comfort since the padding is pretty light

not sure how many reviews you need stating the same thing, hockey tutorial's spend a good amount of time going over the entire bag and I can say, everything they cover is true.

simple good search will turn that review up if you need it.

Give it a rest dude. TWO full pages of Google search and ONE review comes up. The rest are for sale posts, hockey tutorial links, conway + banks site, people on reddit asking for reviews, or completely unrelated articles about people or the banking industry. Thanks for trying to push their bags on me, but please don't respond to this thread anymore unless you can contribute to my original questions about Pacific Rink

fair enough, but one last question, what are you looking for that the review didn't cover? I ask because I have had mine since early summer and could possibly help. I honestly felt they covered anything and everything.

Does the Hockey Tutorial guy ever dislike a product?

If your bag has wheels, you don't.

Not sure, I tend to hear a overall review rather then any of them really say much good or bad. They try to let you make your own mind up. Can speak for the C&B bag, their review covered everything.

That is funny and true. Every product they review is the greatest and will improve your game. I can't think of a single item they've been critical of

I have this bag, and have used it every week for at least 2-3 years now. It holds skates on the outside, with enough room for helmet/visor and gloves inside - provided I put one of the gloves in my bucket.

It'd never be mistaken for Filson, but it's perfect for having my sticks-n-pucks gear ready to go.

Not sure how it compares to the Pacific Rink pack, but man I appreciate hearing you say that you weren't that impressed with it. I've pined for one a couple a times and if they weren't so god awful expensive I prolly woulda splurged at some point.

Now I won't feel as tempted. Thanks, again.

If you can get a refund for your Pond Pack, CCM makes the same idea of a bag and it should be about $50. I found a couple, but they were mostly in Europe for some reason.
