Hi. I’m wondering what the difference is between the HG96/97/98 gloves. There’s a pair of 98 on SLS and im looking for a glove with very good protection. I broke some fingers in a non hockey related accident and my franchise are good but the sides don’t seem very padded. I have retail ultra Tacks and hate them. I’ve felt more pain in those than any glove ever.

I would have preferred XP or PP gloves but are the HG98 far more protective than retail gloves? How’s he fit as well.

Thanks!

Pretty sure HG 97 / 98 are pretty much the same glove. HG 97 / 98 do not have poly insert in lower cuff behind the cuff roll , HG 96 do have poly insert behind cuff roll & a tighter fit than the 97 /98's

okay so the 97-98 aren’t very protective?

97 / 98 models are protective. the 96's have the poly insert in the upper & lower cuff , but have been noticing more glove's ( pro stock & retail ) in the last year or 2 have only the inserts in the upper cuff .

For some reason I liked the feel of the HG98 over the 97..I am sure it was between my ears...But, I found a difference..I thought the 97 was tighter..

I forgot about this thread! I bought HG98 gloves. I LOVE THEM. Suuuuuper protective. Even more than my franchise gloves. Still a tad stiff. Took a brutal slash off the thumb and no pain. Thought he busted it. Nope.

Is D3O in the glove? Or just an insert and soft foam? I’m not sure how to tell
