Now that the Bauer Re-Akt is officially no longer produced, i'm keeping an eye on what players are switching to. Sure, equipment managers have (and will keep sourcing ) re-akt stock for the next couple years before it all dwindles away, but what's next?

 

I find it interesting that team Canada for the IIHF World Junior Championship, almost exclusively used Bauer re-akt 150 helmets...and some 200s. 

 

Are the 150 and the 200 the preference going forward for the re-akt guys? Which do you prefer?

take a look...worn (right and left) are re-akt 200s.  Most of the players however wore 150s (handful of locker room photos)

I have tried the Re-Akt 200 and found it too heavy and bulky. I have yet to try the Re-Akt 150. For now I have a healthy stock of Re-Akt Pro VVN (light) and Re-Akt 100 (comfort) helmets.

I can see the 150 doing well at the pro level, it fits smaller ans definitely passes the mirror test.

It also fits most heads.

A lot of guys have switched to the 150 but similar to the V08 and 4500 I don’t see the Reakt going anywhere for a long, long time. Pros still have that shell as an option with a number of different padding and adjustment options. I’ve also never seen anyone in the NHL wearing the 200.

The WJC also isn’t a great proxy for what is trending at pro because Hockey Canada and USA Hockey puts the majority of their guys in the same exact helmet, usually Bauer’s latest and “most protective.” This year it was the 150 for both, last year the US team wore the god awful 75.
