I’ve cut down Bauer extended shaft sticks only to find that re-extending may not be possible, the shaft walls are doubled due to the fused extension and there seems to be a shelf in the shaft or something along with some sponge foam. Is this just glue that I can heat up or maybe drill or file out? I’ve already had to grind down a junior wood extension and I don’t want to chop it down so much just to get to normal shaft wall width in case I can’t get a plug in there. Anyone dissect a Bauer shaft before?

Grind down an extension to fit or don’t cut it shorter than you need it in the first place.

I've been able to pull the extension out of 2 Bauer shafts (C29 One95, and A26 APX), I cut a little bit into the fuse point, heated up for a really long time and then pulled it out. I've tried the same process with blades and never been successful.

I tried using the extension in another stick and it broke where I made the small cut, maybe the cutting is unnecessary, but it sounds like you don't want to re-use the extension anyways

Figured it out. Dremmel, jack saw, grind down the extension... not easy but done.
