I’m currently in my custom 1S skates still. They came with speed plates and initially I thought that they were awesome but totally forgetting about them at this point I’m wondering if they break down, need to be re-molded? Or should I just swap them out for super feet insoles. The fit of my boot itself is great but I am not skating like I am in a knee bend 40 yard dash position but more stiff and using heel more than I’d like. I was curious to see if speed plates were considered a success or just another Bauer gimmick. The only problem that I could see myself potentially having with speed plates is it reducing too much volume in the boot?

I dont think its a gimmick. A lot of people find success in them and ultimately I think its personal preference. For me I actually skate better with the standard stock insole even tho the speed plates are a bit more comfortable. However, I can definitely feel my edges better with the stock ones.

Once you trim super feet do you need to re-bake your skates for them to take? I ordered some super feet yellow carbon that should be here in a day or two to see if it will correct my issue

I have used superfeet in ski boots (i work at a shop) and highly recommend to avoid putting them in the oven as they will disfigure. You can bake the skate then reassert the insole and tie them up. I have seen one first hand and it is not pretty. That is my experience with them

My skates are well broken in so that makes me wonder if they need it or if the super feet can be trimmed and put in without having to rebake the skate

If your skate fits so well, try them without baking them. What ever you choose to do, bake or not bake is up to you. My only recommendation is to not put the actual insole in an oven. Superfeet that is, not sure about other brands however
