Is Bauer P88 truly a lie 6?

Experimenting with stick length and patterns. Seems like it’s the same as a P28/PM9?

What are you talking about bud? This has nothing to do with pattern it’s a question about LIE, and how it’s called a 6 by Bauer but seems lower and plays like a PM9/P28 (lie not pattern which are both called 5 Lies by Bauer)

Exactly, LIE is the angle of the stick from the ground up, pattern has NOTHING to do with it, whether it's a P88, P02 or a P3000... it should be at the SAME angle regardless

Strike 2. You’re too hung up on trying to tell me I’m wrong when you’re simply not understanding what I’m asking. So maybe I’ll just have to kindeegahdin it. Yes, pattern DOES have something to do with it because each has it’s own lie and other variables of it make it play differently but that’s not what I’m getting at.

*Are sticks from Bauer that have the P88 PATTERN truly a lie 6 or is it considered to be a lower lie than actually specified by the manufacturer?*

It doesn’t feel as upright as a P92L6 to me.

The lack of rocker on the bottom of the toe also makes it harder to play with the puck closer to your feet vs the P92 banana rocker at the same length.

Why Bauer calls the P88 a lie 6 is one of life's mysteries.

As you say lower in the thread, it's certainly in real life a lower lie than a P92, which they also call a 6.

As far as I know, there's no documented standard of measurement or process to determine a lie, and Bauer has always called the P88 a 6, so it's historical more so than anything. Lies are only really relevant between sticks with the same pattern (ie: a P92 L6 is going to be more upright than a P92 L5), but between patterns it's somewhat meaningless, and between manufacturers, even more so.
