I’m currently in a Bauer 1N retail pair. Looking to get back into girdle/shell but don’t really know which ones are the go too. I’ve worn Bauer 190 Girdles and it seems like I need to rock a medium but run a large shell. Looking for thoughts on this. I want more mobility and don’t need to have serious protection. I play B league and don’t really need body armor.

I’m asking the same question I’m looking to pick up a girdle so that I have a back up option if I can’t find pants (Bauer)

I wear a medium Super Tacks girdle with large Tacks pro stock shell. Very light, mobile, comfortable. Great protection. I’ve been hit by pucks and inadvertently run into the boards and they’ve been great. Much lighter than 9K. They’re also adjustable in length, as is the spine protector.

I've worn the Bauer MBP8, TotalOne, and One.8 in the past. I'm an oddball in that I've gone from girdles to pants and haven't looked back instead of the other way around. I recently retried the MBP8 and TotalOne and ended up going right back to pants. Looking back, I can no longer say that I like any of the girdles enough to recommend them.

That being said, and it pains me to say this as a Bauer fanboy, I've tried on the CCM Tacks girdles and they fit and felt much better than anything Bauer's offered. Better still, CCM is releasing the successor to the Tacks girdle, the Jetspeed, hopefully soon as well. It looks pretty much identical, but it will finally feature a segmented tailbone, which will at least prompt me to try it on, if nothing else. I'd wait for that to come out before pulling the trigger on anything.

Personnally, I always preferred the original girdle.

I dont like the fit of any of the more modern girdles. (9K/TotalOne...)

I have an MX3 girdle right now that I wear from time to time, but never feels right.

I had that same girdle for years and loved it (and an old Cooper before that), then I tore my ACL and life got in the way and I took 8 years off from hockey, by the time I got back the girdle was in disrepair and I started trying new girdles.  First was a Bauer One.8 with the wrap style, it was horrible, then I tried a more modern Easton that was on clearance, not bad but just didn't fit or move right, then I went 9K and fell in love.  Eventually I picked up a Super Tacks and it's even better than the 9K... more padding, more adjustability, great flexibility and even lighter.  So that's where I'm at now, I ws rotating between the 9K and Tacks but for the past few months it was strictly Tacks.

As for shells, I wear a medium girdle with a medium shell, CCM 9K pro stock style shell is my favorite, I also have a small pro stock tacks shell that fits fine on my medium girdles but I just prefer the mediums.  I had a large CCM 9K shell once and it was ginormous.

my first girdle was the 9k. i wore a large in the girdle but probably could have fit in a medium no problem. big pro with the 9k is the ability to adjust the height of the thigh pads. what i wasn't a fan of was how tight the underwear area was, i still wear a garter belt style jock which didn't work well with the 9k. nuisance to put the whole thing on, bunched up a lot. i think the best under garments to wear with the 9k is the long pants with velcro for your socks.

as for the shells, it all depends on which shell and i only had experiences with ccm shells. i found large ccm pp9k shells to fit well, but i liked the medium fit and look better (check out pics of Nylander - uses a large/medium combo im pretty sure).

pp10 shells fit big, even the medium on a large girdle is too big in my opinion.

i went back to pants for a bit (mostly pro stock bauer supremes - bulky as shit) and then recently bought a medium totalone nxg girdle with a 9k style bauer shell and i love the overall fit. If i could change anything it would be adjustable thigh pads. protection isn't like the 9k, but thats what makes it a lot lighter, yet still has me feeling comfortable with the level of protection.

as for the shells on this guy, i picked up a medium ccm pp9k shell and it is significantly bigger than the new bauer 9k style shells. I have yet to get my hands on a small ccm pp9k to see how it fits this girdle. bauer also makes pant shells (slightly bigger fit than the 9k style, and doesnt have the internal loops to attach to the girdle - but still works fine) and the medium works well in that style as well.

hope that helps a bit

My favorite is the old Bauer One95 girdle, I had a Nike One90 before that. It is more protective than the last few lines of Supreme girdles and I like that it has a belt. I pair it up with 9K shells.

I love my dynasty girdle and the dynasty shell combo from warrior, the dynasty girdle is super snug and mobile.

I’ve had the Easton girdle and the 9k didn’t love them,

the Easton girdle was weird though you needed pant lowers with thigh boards. Not sure if anyone’s seen or used them but it was a wild combo. It was a pant upper with like compression shorts and then the lowers attached like a two piece pant.

I have the CCM 7092 and Warrior Dynasty. Medium+1 aka medium tall Warrior Dynasty shells on a large QRE girdle is money.

"What is your lowest/best price?" is NOT an offer.

When I wore CCM shells I would wear my large 9K with medium PP90 shells.

Now I use large Warrior girdle shells with my large 9K. For whatever reason I find the Warrior shells fit my 9K way better than the CCM / Reebok shells that were designed for the girdle.

I'm currently in the CCM Tacks girdle and doubt I would go back to anything different. For your needs it sounds like the 7092 may be the way to go.  Using a 9k shell over it.

I'm looking at the CCM Supertacks girdles and I cannot figure out which sizing to get.  I fit a medium waist size but large in regards to height.  I've worn a large 9k and in pants, medium nexus.  I'm leaning towards medium at this point; can anyone help? I'm 6', 180lbs (33" waist")

The Super Tacks girdle runs pretty small... I'm 5'9" 165-170lbs and the medium is snug.  It has a ton of length adjust ability to both lengthen and shorten the thigh pads and spine protector (I think about 2.5" in either direction"), but the odd thing is how small/narrow the thigh pads and straps are.  I have pretty skinny legs and the strep just makes it around, it's bizarre.  In my 9K girdle the strap goes all the way to the far side of the thigh pad and it's just far enough so it doesn't droop down, but with the ST girdle it's stretched to even make it to the beginning of the attachment part.  If I were your size I'd prob go with a large since you can always shorten parts of it if needed and will give you more flexibility to adjust it to fit best.

Honestly, you'd probably be fine with either one. I'd probably lean towards large though.

I tried on both at the store. I ended up with a medium (5'10", 160 lbs, 32" waist). The large fit fine, I could just tell the legs hung a little lower, and might interfere with my shin pads.

The best girdle I've ever worn is the Bauer vapor 8 "pro" girdle. The one I have is over 12 years old now and still in good shape, although I have had to make a couple repairs. I have tried other modern girdles...tacks 7092 and 9k and they aren't even close. The vapor 8 is so light weight and fits like a 2nd skin. It isn't the most protective but I survived high levels of hockey with it. Now for beer league it is really the perfect lower option. For a shell I wear a size medium (same as girdle) Bauer nexus pant shell or a tacks girdle shell. You can still these girdles on sideline swap from time to time, and from what I can tell they are the predecessor to the Bauer totalone girdle.
