I noticed while putting stickers on a Red Wings helmet that they either use Bauer visors or cut off most of the red on the Oakley decals, leaving a thin rectangle. Does anyone know why they do this?

They also put the "A" & "C" on the right side of their jerseys, when every other team puts it on the left  :dunno:

Aaron best guess is because how low the Wing sits on the left side. Just my observation

"When the league switched to RBK jerseys the logo shifted upwards on the jersey. The Wings felt that the "C" looked out of place beside the winged wheel so they have it on the right side instead of the left."

From google, but I've also heard that confirmed from many other places.

The Wings traditionally had the "C" and "A" on the right side of their sweater. They switched it up a couple times in the 60's and then again in late 70's. They have always gone back and forth until the 80's and 90's, which I assume is to match the rest of the league until the newest switch. As far as the stickers, it's just for a cleaner and more symmetrical look.

Peripheral vision being obscured less by a reduced sticker footprint is the only practical reason. The rest would be either cosmetic or something like the EQM got them made and went with a simple straight design instead to get more decals out of the same size sheet. Could even be a third party provider who made them.

Makes sense. Thank you for actually answering my question.

The same with Arizona (/Phoenix) Coyotes.

Captaincy on the right side.
No other reason than their logo being offset - I could imagine.
