I saw the TF9 retail skates yesterday, they seem pretty solid overall.

Anyone tried them, yet?

I've got 2 sessions à 2h in mine, after switching to the classic VH/True tongue and adding Superfeet yellow, I can't really distinguish the fit&feel from my custom True/VH that I bought 2nd-hand and rocked with the same tongue/insole.

Not fully convinced on the holder/blades yet, but enough to have this skate relegate my True/VH to the spare-skates pile for now.

I wrote a bunch on MSH, but the short version is that these feel very similar to the customs, lengthen up somewhat upon baking, and come in at a great price-point (some promo available in the US/CAN right now). I'm very happy so far and will keep them.

Great. Off the shelf, they seem like a great skate. Once in the over, are they as easy to fit to your foot?

I assume "oven" - yes, going with the 6 minutes bake per skate, those are very soft and easy to get into, so much so that you have to do the rolling of the edges for the eyelets to make sure you can actually get your laces in once you've gotten into the fully molded and cooled down skate (as described on this true hockey video). .

I agree with the other members comments, always wanted Custom VH/True skates, but couldn't justify the price tag for the 5-6 times I get on the ice a month. So with the rebate they've been running, I went to the LHS to check em out. Right out of the box they were more comfortable than any Bauer or CCS I've worn. Then he baked them for me, 6 minutes and a full cool down, and they literally felt like a sneaker. Got invited to a private pickup game two days later and decided I'd go for it and wear these new TF9's in a pickup having never had them on the ice before. Brought my Vapor skates just in case. Skated for 90 minutes and not one hot spot, pressure point, or foot cramp in these True's. I'm a believer. Vapors are now in the garage closet as my backups that I hope I never have to wear...

I have vapors too. Did you get the same size? I'm not sure if my local shop will have these or if they even offer the rebate. I haven't read much about the type of foot shape the boot caters to. Narrow, wide? Is it all encompassing to mold to any type? Thanks

I went to Hockey Supremacy last week & utilized their sale (20% off) & True rebate to pick up a pair of the TF9's.

I had a hard time getting my foot in the left skate before heating, no problem when heated.  I have a very high instep that causes problem on some skate models. I got the same size as my CCM's

I had to do the edge roll when I got home after they cooled to make  lacing easier. I also found a pinching spot on the outside of the left skate by the 4th & 5th eyelet that was rubbing my instep a lot trying to get it back on that I had to heat & roll back. It still rubbed when putting on but not painful.  Hopefully that goes away once fully broken in.

I had an 1.5 hr skate on Thurs on them & found them very comfortable, no squeezing of my forefoot, plenty of room for toes, someone that likes them snug on the toes might want to add some PowerFoot pads.

I laced them just snug, not tight & had no issues needing to re tie during the skate.  Heel lock was very good.

At the end of the skate when I was removing the skates there was an audible suction sound when pulling  them off, they almost seemed vacuum sealed to my feet.

I've been wearing RBZ Pros with Step steel for awhile, I noticed when I first got on the ice that the stock rocker of the Shift holder & blade was not quite at the stock Step rocker that I didn't change on my RBZ's.  the Shift blades / holders seem a bit flatter to me.   Anyone know if Step will be making a blade for the True Shift holder???

It took me most of the warmup & about 3 shifts to be comfortable on where my edges were & my turn radius which was not as tight as with Step & its extra height.   I'm looking forward to another ice session to test them further.

Never found True skates particularly good looking, but had a LHS honor the price True was running when they launched over the summer. Decided to mount a set of Marsblade R1s on them and I get the hype now! Unbelievably comfortable even though it took me a number of attempts to figure out how to lace up the damn things once they were on my feet! The ankle wrap was so tight it forced me to undo the top two eyelets and it took a google to learn the trick of going behind the tongue to get the laces through the eyelets. But other than taking more time to put on/take off than traditional boots, they do fit like a sneaker and feel pretty amazing to skate on

Those look amazing! Did Glenn do the conversion and powder coating on the chassis?

"What is your lowest/best price?" is NOT an offer.

Thank you. Yeah, he did the conversion and the bake/mold before he left. I had the chassis powder coated, then removed most of the graphics on the boot as well as paint the tongues. There was just too much color and stuff going on with the stock TF9

How did you remove the graphics? I want True customs but I don’t like the TF9 look even when you order the black/silver on it instead of the blue. I wish they would let you still order last years model, it looked perfect

My guess is paint pen over the stripes

Thanks, I agree the old ones looked better. I used acetone, a rag, and a bit of elbow grease to permanent remove the blue/silver stripes
