Wondering if anyone has moved from a Bauer 4500 into something newer by CCM? I was looking at the V08 which some people say fits like the 4500 and others don't. Will plan on buying from a place that I can return/exchange in case it doesn't fit, but was hoping to narrow down my options before I buy a few to try out.

I personally think that the V08 fits similar to the 4500 in terms of both helmet shape and feel.

Another option would be the Tacks 110, which correct me if I am wrong, has similar if not the same foam as the V08. The Tacks from my experience however, has a more contoured shape to the back of the helmet which does not feel like either the 4500 or V08. 

 

I agree with buying at a place that will allow for returns/exchanges. My head is more than likely a different shape than yours, so trying it on before committing would be the best option.

I am a 4500 die hard. I have tried so many and I agree the v08 is probably the closest but I don’t think there is an equivalent

v08 in a few ways. I made the switch from a 4500 to a v08 and actually ended up liking the fit and feel even more

Well the v08 has the same foam liner but I feel it fits a bit wider. Like was mentioned look at the tacks 110 I find it fits narrower and smaller.

I wore 4500's for a long time and switched to V08's since they seem to fit me well (and most importantly, look the best /sarcasm).

 

I had a Resistance 110 for a season and as much as I tried I just couldn't wear it comfortably, the shape was far too square in the front for me, seemed like it was more suited to a round head than an oval head.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Seems like both the V08 and the Tacks are viable options. I’ll order them both. Regarding sizing, I’m a 7-7 1/8 hat size which is medium in the 4500, but likely a small in V08. Is Tacks sizing the same as the V08?

From my experience, the tacks fits smaller.
Just to give you an idea of my head size: i wear a 7 1/2 fitted hat, bauer 4500 in a medium at the largest adjustment setting, a medium V08 adjusted in the middle setting, and a large tacks slightly adjusted from the smallest setting.

+1 to this.  I wear a medium in both the 4500 and V08.  The 4500 feels more snug on the sides unless I install a visor to pull it out a little bit.

I don't know my hat size but I wear a medium in Bauer helmets but a small in a V08.

Thats what I heard too, but if its the best helmet on the market, I think its worth protecting my head

CCM V08 arrived today and first impressions are positive. It does seem to fit a bit higher on my head and the tiniest bit wider on the sides compared to the Bauer 4500, but overall it feels comfortable. Might be a while before I can determine how it feels in a game situation though, but around the house it's fine.

The adjustment tabs on the side are so much nicer than having to loosen/tighten screws on the 4500. But once I adjusted it to my liking and shook my head to test the fit, I noticed a rattling sound. The adjustment mechanisms appear to be these riveted bolts on the side. One is loose enough to rattle. Has anyone else had this issue? Since it's a rivet is there a fix? I just threw some tape on it, but who knows how long that'll last once I start to sweat in it.



Still waiting on a Tacks helmet, but I gotta think this one will be a keeper in the fit department. Thank you all for the recommendation

Tried on a Tacks 310 today and did not like the fit. Went with my normal size (medium) vs going down a size (small) with the V08. Not sure if the 110 is the same fit just with different foams. Felt pinching behind my ears and if I loosened the helmet to relieve the pressure it was too loose. I will say the foams of the 310 did feel real nice compared to old VN foams I’m used to. Looks like the V08 will be the new bucket!
